We decided to use computer science to expand into another area of environmental education. We worked with the Darrington Learning Exchange, an effort to learn more about different communities by connecting Tesla STEM High School students with students of the Darrington Learning Community. In the past, we have used STEM's Vernir water quality probes to teach Darrington Middle School students about water quality data and share our interest in the STEM subjects. To further expand the program and make our educational tools more engaging, we developed OSxWater, an app that teaches students about water quality testing and how to analyze water sample data. Our goal was to make STEM education more accessible to communities generally not focused on science based curriculum.
